50 YEARS OF FRUITFUL TESTIMONY
June 25, 1975
In the context of the Jubilee Year “Pilgrims of Hope,” we celebrate a time of grace in which we are invited to rediscover the joy of encountering the Lord, as well as to renew our spirituality and commit to transforming a more humane world. The Order of Friars Minor Conventual of Central America, united with the entire Church, also celebrates the continuation of the preliminary process of the Cause, hand in hand with the Diocese of Juticalpa with the purpose of increasing the fame of martyrdom and holiness of Fray Casimiro Cypher, in memory of the 50 years of fruitful testimony. For this, the following activities will be carried out:
- Missionary-Testimonial Symposium: May 23 and 24.
Directed to the Diocesan Clergy, Consecrated Life, and committed laypeople (Day 1) and youth, catechists, apostolic groups, and others (Day 2).
The central presentation will be a historical, missionary-pastoral contextualization of the Church in Olancho (1975), the Franciscan Missionary and testimonial Dimension, the signs of hope it has raised in the face of ecclesiological-pastoral challenges in the Jubilee Year.
During the day, very significant contributions and testimonies about the life and mission of Fray Casimiro will be shared, as a witness of faith and hope in the Church that pilgrimages in Honduras. It will conclude with the celebration of the Eucharist presided over by Mons. José Bonello, Bishop of the Diocese of Juticalpa. - Guided visits to significant places for the Church in Olancho.
The objective is to place the faithful in the historical knowledge of the event, catechetical-missionary formation, ending with a prayerful and celebratory experience. The places to visit are: Campamento, Lepaguare, Talanquera, Centro Santa Clara, Church of Gualaco, and the Sanctuary of Light (Aldea de San Buenaventura). The visits can be made during the months of the Jubilee Year. They will be carried out in agreement with the parish priests and the communities involved. - Expressions, artistic-cultural and educational expressions.
Through these means, it is intended to represent the historical memory of the event that marked the life and mission of the Church in Olancho, along with the testimony of Casimiro and other missionaries who gave their lives. These will be carried out from the pastoral-educational and cultural-social perspective: theater, art, photography, music, literature, and others. June 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Location: Pedestrian area in front of the Cathedral of Juticalpa. - Printed and digital publications in the media.
With access to electronic and written social communication media, the historical memory, the fruits of a pilgrim Church, and the pastoral-missionary challenges that have arisen in a Church that proclaims the Gospel for 50 years will be disseminated. A brief biography, distribution of writings, posters, and prayers for the Cause will be published, as well as historical-catechetical information about the event where Fray Casimiro gave his life. - Eucharistic Celebration and Diocesan Community Gathering.
June 25 at 9:30 a.m. in the Cathedral of Juticalpa. And in the Church of Gualaco at 4:00 p.m. - Missionary Experiences: Consecrated Life, Franciscan Friars, and Laypeople.
Promote missionary experiences during Lent, the month of June, and Advent in the different pastoral zones of the Diocese, with the purpose of witnessing the Gospel and giving reason for Hope.
